About this Qualification

This qualification is for people wishing to work with older people in the community. This could be in residential care or community care settings. The qualification will enable people to carry out activities to maintain personal care and other activities for people in an aged care setting.

What you will Learn

The Certificate IV in Aged Care will teach you to assist, support and care for the elderly within a wide range of contexts. You will gain the knowledge and skills required by Team Leaders and complex care coordinators.

CHCAD401D Advocate for clients
CHCICS401A Facilitate support for personal care needs
CHCICS402A Facilitate individualised plans
CHCCS400B Work within a legal and ethical framework
CHCINF403D Coordinate information systems
CHCNET404A Facilitate links with other services
CHCORG406B Supervise work
CHCOHS312B Follow safety procedures for direct care work

Elective Units

CHCCS426A Provide and care relating to grief and loss
CHCCS305A Assist clients with medication
CHCDIS301A Work effectively with people with a disability
CHCMH402A Apply understanding of mental health issues and recovery processes

6 to 18 months

Pre-requisites

To gain entry into CHC40108 Certificate IV in aged care, a candidate must be recognised as competent, through a recognised training program or recognition process, against the following core units from CHC30208 Certificate III in Aged Care (or equivalent):
